Anyone else get charged a “enhanced performance” charge when they got boat insurance?

I just got a notice adding $150 to my bill because I have a surface drive.

Sounds like more surface drive discrimination to me,I would find another company Quick, no reason for that 99% of ouf boats barley crack 30 MPH,way more risk for a 50 MPH bass boat says Ronbow

Yeah. I contacted my agent and they are checking into it.

Not gonna lie, was enjoying my morning coffee and got an email saying that a payment schedule had been put in place and was like WTF? Saw that and immediately sent an email.

If thats the case, I’m going to ask my agent to find me another company.

UPDATE

My agent said it was because they assumed that my motor was modified/enhanced. I was like nope, bone stock. She said that she would have them remove it.

But FYI for you mod guys.

How does an insurance company assume you have a modded motor? Sounds like your broker fed you a line of crap. I sell insurance for a living in IL. No way would my company EVER make a judgement call like that, especially on a stated value policy.

Companies will also over value you truck, car boat etc.. and charge a higher premium but if there is a loss argue it’s not worth the policy limits. (RCV) Replacement cost value or (ACV) Actual cash Value makes a big difference also. RCV is whatever it takes to replace what you have (after “you” prove it and some arguing) ACV mean whatever they feel like paying and phuck you.

So my broker got back with me. Apparently they DO charge extra for a mud motor/surface drive.

I’m pretty pissed.

It’s because if you own one, you probably support the second amendment and voted for our great president Trump
