Post Pro Drive 36 Dies at WOT
2008 Pro Drive with stock carb.

On the water last weekend for the first time this year. Motor ran fine at 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 throttle, but wide open and it would sporadically go from 4300 rpms to nothing, but would not die completely. Sometimes without letting off on the throttle it would ramp back up again, a few other times I let off the throttle and feather it before it died and would go again. It never completely shut the motor off, but when it died it was instantaneous at WOT.

Any ideas? I am about to venture into taking the carb apart and cleaning, including the hi and low jets, but wondering if you think it could be something else.

Thanks

sounds like it's running out of fuel. check your fuel tank vent. check your fuel line connections for leaks.
1/4'' fuel line is reccommended.
make sure your engine choke is not partially on. (physically look to see it fully off/on)
if u have a primer bulb on the fuel line, squeese it when the motor starts crapping out and see if it clears up.
check your air breather for dirtdaubbers or rat nest.
check in line fuel filter and see if it's clogged up.
if you have a electric fuel pump it may b going out.
run a can of seafoam in the fueltank.
do all this before you start tearing the carb apart. probly just something simple.

But all this at only WOT. Doesn't that look like the carb? Of everything on your list the only thing I need to check is the filter and leaks in the line, but nothing looks out of wack.

I have only had that carb off once in14 years and I never tore it down to the hi and lo jets to clean.

Removed carb, cleaned and cleaned jets. Pretty easy other than putting the spacer on up side down. LOL We will see how it reacts on the water.
