Post subject:  27hp longtail problems

Hey everybody, I'm new to this site , but it looks like ya'll have a good thing going here. My problem is that i purchased a homemade longtail type mudmotor and i recently went run it and I had to fight it to keep the prop in the water, I've had a 23 hp go-devil and never had any issue like this with it . Any ideas on what could be causing the prop to want to "lift" itself out of the water?

Transom height over 15 inch ?

Flat bottom - semi vee - or mudhull ?

Does cavitation plate align with bottom of boat with a straight edge
in such a way that the prop would be be at least 2/3s below the boat
when the cavitation plate is parallel to the hull bottom ?

Does she have a trailing edge you can adjust like the GDLT did ?

Lastly a worn prop has way more lift than a good new one
how does she look and what is her diameter ?

The cavitation plate is level with the bottom of the boat, however judging from the height of the handle of the motor when i was running the boat earlier this morning the top of the prop was at least 6 inches higher than the bottom of the boat for me to maintain max speed of the boat, and as mentioned i had to fight the motor by pulling up on the handle. The boat is a old go-devil fiberglass skiff that is flat from the front rake to the transom, however underneath it's shaped something like a upside down "W" when looking at it from port to starboard side.
