GT 35- EVT Exhaust RPM
I took my boat out this past weekend for a little fishing. I put the EVT exhaust on my GT 35 a while back. Never paid much attention to the RPMs with the new exhaust. Out of the water with my stock exhaust at WOT the RPMs were around 4000-4150. With the new exhaust the RPMs are about the same out of water, but in the water they are about 400 RPM difference. With the stock exhaust in the water running at WOT I was at around 3700-3800. Now with the new exhaust it is at 3200-3400 WOT in water. Is this the way it is suppose to run? Any suggestions?

Re: GT 35- EVT Exhaust RPM
OOW RPMs are controlled by your governor. 4250-4300 is fine for max RPM and you will see an increase with the high flow exhaust. I assume you meant to type 4xxx in your post. Without your valve springs shimmed you should probably stay below 4400 to keep from floating your valves.
Sounds like your motor likes the exhaust- mine woke up when I tossed the stock muffler too.

Re: GT 35- EVT Exhaust RPM
Thanks for the help Gary.
So the RPMs are suppose to decrease on WOT in water once you add the muffler? i thought they would increase...guess I'm wrong.
I am also thinking about the carb kit. What will this do to the RPMs at WOT?

Re: GT 35- EVT Exhaust RPM
Yep I was mixed up- I thought you mistyped and were saying they were 4200 to 4400. Yes they should have gone up. If you are in the 3200 RPM range you are below the power band of the motor.

Re: GT 35- EVT Exhaust RPM
Gary, can you PM me your cell phone number so I can call you next time I take it out. May need you to walk me through some things on turning them up again if thats OK with you. I am planning on taking it out Friday afternoon/evening.
Or you can just tell me on here....how do you turn the RPMs up for the in the water WOT?
