Stage 3 dependability?
Thinking strongly about getting my 40XD stage 3'd by delta once my 3 year warranty is up. From guys who have modded motors, what kind of dependability are y'all getting out of them and what has people's experiences with delta been?
All info is appreciated bros

Re: Stage 3 dependability?
Yeah man, I haven't really heard of many people having problems with delta motors, but I've heard mixed stories of modded motors. I guess if I get it staged up, I'll throw some holy water on it after and whisper a prayer lol

Re: Stage 3 dependability?
Delta has had several issues with their level 4s. The level 3s are solid though.

If it was a joke, then my b. Hard to tell what is and what isn't when you reading something instead of talking face to face.
Regardless, I want opinions of staged up motors, that's it lol

In three years your 40 will be outdated and replaced by new technology. JMO.

Re: Stage 3 dependability?
I’ve got 50 hours on my stage 3. Like it so far. The Motor runs strong and smooth. I think it runs better now than stock. I don’t hot rod around or play in the mud though.

Re: Stage 3 dependability?
Yeah, you are probably right about that. In 3 years there will be a 50 or something else, who knows.
Yeah, with my worked merc prop, I'm running 35 with a completely empty boat. With another person, ice chests, fishing poles, tackle boxes, couple cases of beer, I can hold 32 with the merc prop. I ended up getting a gatortail fat blade. Went run it yesterday. Was able to run 30 at 4500rpms, but the prop is not worked at all. I'm hoping I can run the same as my merc prop once it's worked, because after I ran it by myself, I put my dad in the boat and an ice chest with a case in it and ran the exact same speed, so it pushes a load well with that prop. Going to use that one as my hunting season prop.

Re: Stage 3 dependability?
Around a 160 hrs 55 mag. Few case leaks, valve job at 50. Running strong, my sweet spot is about 3800 to 4000 but can spin up to 4550 if needed

Re: Stage 3 dependability?
I'm running around 215 compression. All internals, headwork minus the decking, exhaust and carb. Only things to break so far were some "used before I got them" starters (and a connecting rod caused some catastrophic damage because of the first starter that went pop). No issues since except the other 2 starters. 80someodd hours I think on the build, 130ish total I think (don't remember, may be 140ish). Turn them past 4400 for any length of time and they'll vibrate themselves to pieces eventually.
