Post Mikuni Carb Boot
I have a Mikuni carb on a 35 gatortail, and the black rubber carburator boot or flange has a large crack. The motor now runs terrible at low rpms, and will die at idol because it is running way too lean due to the air leak that just developed. I was able to limp back to the launch. To replace the boot is it as simple as taking off the carb by undoing the hose clamp and then removing the two Allen screws and replacing the carb boot? Is there any sealant or something between the rubber carb boot and the metal intake manifold? The old flange seems to be sealed to the intake manifold in some way. Also, Is there any way to better support the carb than just its whole weight being held up by the plastic flange? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I always carry a spare, the vibration on theese engines will loosen the clamps so checking them is a good idea i have never used any sealant just kept it tight, Says Ronbow

I also have a Boat Dr. cover for my carb, they are cheap and are worth the trouble on the vertical or horizontal engines says Ronbow Boat Dr. 504 737 1203

2 big zip ties in an x will hold fine and take the stress off that boot. Could also take a thin piece of sheet aluminum or steel from the hardware store and bend it to act as a support underneath the carb and bolt it in.
