I think the most impressive difference the PD EFI makes is the effect on the customer...

It takes away a couple inches of phallus length and adds those inches to the jaw hinge, allowing EFI owners to tell people more loudly how awesome it is.

So a stage 1 would be heads and factory carb with a muffler?
stage 2 would be heads cam carb and muffler?

I agree with aka. Why would you open the case for a stg 1. Should be bolt on parts

Post Re: Ecotrons
So for those of you that know the difference between the ecotrons kit and the PD, what is the difference? seems like PD used the ecotron kit and made it their own? Not saying this is a bad thing, just wondering the difference besides $600, it seems from owens posts there is a good reason to buy the PD kit im just curious. Also, i imagine the ECU is the same and ecotrons says you can send them data and they can adjust tune, does PD offer this and/or would you be able to send data from the PD system to ecotron to adjust a tune?

A good point was brought up here that i havent considered, does PD sell spare parts for the EFI separately?

I'm certain PD will sell you parts. The ecotrons kit is not a bolt on kit for the pd. It's a generic kit that will require a significant amount of effort in order for it to be installed. You will have to make parts and have others machined. The extra costs comes from the r&d to put together a simple to install, bolt on kit. PD can/will retune them for you.

^^^ what he said, the you seen my pic of the PD Kit, they kind of 'idiot proofed" it. Just install the kit and go, you will have a lot of $$ and time making the ecotron fit - Stu up in AL is a lot smarter than your average rube - like me :)

I guess i was lookin at this one

From what owen said earlier in the thread it seems there may be even more parts in the PD kit that the one i just linked to. Was just curious

I did not see that one - I would still go with PD, STT and OD where actually pretty patient with my dumb questions and helpful thru the whole process, well worth the price of admission

That could be the difference there too, a product is only as good as those backing it. Doing as much learning as i can on all this, i tend to pick things up fairly quick and learn as much as i can about stuff like this for my own good and to help everyone else like you all are doing here.

 thats awesome! I thought the price difference was more than you said, but had not seen that kit yet. Looks like either they makin the whole kit for pd now, or they ripped em off. Either way, nice to see they can be had for a little better price. Kinda sucks for pd unless they're getting some kinda kickback.

They just put that out there Mike, I am not sure what else is needed. Pro-Drive is working on a more condensed kit that will be cheaper in price.

What does the prodrive kit contain that the ecotron kit doesn't? Why is the prodrive kit $700 more?

They did all the work...trying to recoupe some of their r&d. I hear a more streamlined kit is coming at a better price though.

STT, does pro drive offer software if someone wanted to tune themselves or have multiple tunes to download to the ECU or do all changes need to be made by pro drive?

Do you guys have a proven "stage 2" tune to support heads, cam, and exhaust or is that still being worked on?

Is it correct to assume you all will continue to develop tunes to support more mods such as can? And do you guys do any air/fuel monitoring to ensure the stoic is safe on the tunes?

I'm real gun shy about air/fuel stuff cause I've burned up a $10k race motor running lean for a very short period of time before the fuel issue surfaced
