 Re: Sump Case bolt conversion
Just curious, are all of these opinions mainly based on a horizontal engine? I've had both and in my opinion the vertical are much better mounted due to the larger foot print on the hold down bolts and the fact that the verticals run with a lot less stress on them due to them just having centrifugal force rather than the tension of a belt and the extra weight of a clutch hanging on them. Idk, just wondering?

 Re: Sump Case bolt conversion
CB, are you a gynecologist that turned into a mechanic? I heard a story about your schooling. You were the one who tore down that engine and rebuilt it, all through the muffler. Correct?

 Re: Sump Case bolt conversion
Wouldn't spot welding just burn the gasket on each side of the weld? I know they are the metallic ones, but my guess is they wouldn't stand that much heat. But....I don't know. Just a guess.

 Re: Sump Case bolt conversion
Studs and have the motor with the case up, then infill the holes with epoxy.

 Re: Sump Case bolt conversion
Something I ran across with going to a larger bolt is sometimes the blocks threaded bolt holes are not always centered with the case bolt holes.
