Post Re: Headwork
Yes that was one of the problems, I fixed that yesterday but it was still a few thousandths from hitting the arms. What is the main purpose for the screw with spring adjustment on the back of the carb?

Bend your big spring out some and it'll allow it to drop idle completely. Then if your not hitting rev limiter OOW, zip tie the spring coils to get it to pull the arm harder when u give throttle.

It's an adjustment for the gov. Clockwise turn will make it hit rev limiter but will pull your idle up. So turn it down and bend that spring to allow it to drop completely to idle.

Your motor a cdi?

4350 coils. When I rev out of water it's just below 4300. Thanks, I'll play with it a little more to adjust the gov adjuster. Are your springs set about half way for a good basis?

I meant is your screw with the spring about half way turned down or more in than out or vice versa?

I got the mikuni now but I think it was more turned up. It won't matter once you get your spring to let the arm fully back to idle, then zip tie to bang rev limiter outta water. Your basically just gonna override the governor. It's a waste to have 2 governors on a motor. The Briggs linkage system just slows your throttle response down. They were not designed for varying throttle

So I bent out the upper left spring looking at the backside of the carb and that dropped my idle arm down just like you said, perfect... I adjusted the screw length basically all the way out to allow me to run at rev limiter level... Will I "wear out" the limiter doing this? Or should I adjust screw back down... At one point I turned 4400 rpm's with 4350 limiter, is this dumb talk or can happen?

Not sure if you can "wear" one out or not. Its built into the coil itself and not a box. 4400 is normal to see, your tach may not always read 100% accurate.

You don't want to constamtly ride on the limiter. It's there to bounce off of if you hit something, not to ride against.
