Gator tail ended up sending me the tube for the remote steer set up. But they said it will work also. So I changed out the steering tube and the bushings. Took me about 1.5 hours. Now everything is back tight like some virgin pussy.

Bumping this thread with a question. In looking at my motor when I wobble it side to side it looks to me like the wobble is only at the top and due to the nylon plate possibly being widened out. The "center pivot pin" (for turning, side to side) isn't moving and I can't see anything on the top part that would keep it stiff other than the nylon plate. Am I missing something?

Bump. I know podcast has the same issue on his 23. Don't think it's resolved yet.

Bayouboy, where in the hell did you find that tube to make the bushing for the vertical pivot tube? I got mine tore all apart. I can make a couple of bushings and weld them into the steel piece, but would much rather have one that goes through the entire steel piece. But I'll be damn if I can find anything with a 7/8 inside diameter so it will fit tight. I'm sure this is all in vain, since he hasn't been on here in a while.

He probably whittled it out using a file and a grinder, he's good like that.

Yeah I know what you mean. He makes some good looking stuff and swears he only uses a file. He may chime in again one day.

Well it wasn't a great find. He used 1" o.d. stainless tubing, ( which is obviously thin wall and will accommodate the 7/8 aluminum bolt that gt uses). After looking for a good fit to make a sleeve, it ended up being about the same as finding an unmolested watermelon in a church's chicken parking lot. But I have an alternate plan, and I will take a few pics and post when I have a few hours to dedicate and put her back together.
