I have been around the new 40's quite a bit. they run well, especially with a load compared to my old 36. Yall will like them.

Soooo... If I'm reading this correctly, Briggs will soon officially come out with a true 40HP motor that only a few have seen.
There is no data on the motor, but it is basically a moded motor they are calling stock.
But if you put on a performance muffler you will gain 4 to 7 HP, making it a 44 to 47hp.
A current 37HP EFI with pipes and heads is its equivalent?
And, it will provide a full 3-year warranty and any bolt-on power enhancements will NOT affect the warranty.

Is that basically correct?

Wonder what the cost for a 40 hp GatorTail will be then?

I was in the process of designing a rig with a builder and I have punted until I know what these new motors are going to be like. It seems like the mud motor industry is about to make some strides...finally. It would be nice to be able to tote a load in the high 20’s very low 30’s without having to rebuild every 100 hours...and under warranty.

The warranty is an advantage, but there's no reliability advantage over a 35/37 Briggs with the same mods done aftermarket. It's still a briggs.

The only advantage I see here is for those who decide to stay stock... which... Who wants that? I don't see this as any advantage at all to most of us. It's the same block with slight head work done by briggs...

It's a big advantage to those that want to stay stock, which is a large percentage of these motors sold. We that mod looks like "most of us", but reality is it's a small percentage that looks inflated because of our membership on forums or the people in our circles.

So, all briggs is doing is offering stage 1 mods on the same POS block with a warranty and everyone is calling this "revolutionary" and ready to throw money at it ? :?

Ok guys, I am one who would like to keep everything stock.( have a 37 EFI GT now ) With that said, I need more power, ( yes I know I should run a 70 to 90 true OB, but I need the mud motor for 1/2 spots we go. And when I say more power ( not looking to go 25 MPH ) the boat ( 18 foot with a Permanent blind ) with 3 guys a dog and decoys ( 8 MPH max ) NOT SAFE !! What do you guys think, will the new 40 help much ? Should I simply put on a new muffler? I have the stock prop,( Should I go to a new prop ?? ) You guys on here know more then me. What do you think ??

I've heard a lot of different things. Until briggs releases it, Nothing is available. Briggs wont do headwork lol. Its going to be a raw casting....
