No there wasn't an ounce of grease or oil on there. 2012 motor and 160 hours on the clutch...seems reasonable for a failure. Unfortunate timing nonetheless!
My opinion is the lower unit seal is fine. There is some build up on the walls of the belt housing. Doesn't seem abnormal for a 2012 motor.

Re: RPM drops drastically above 4200 Thanks Bluesky! I agree. You kinda get what you get on these motors. Clutch is on its way from GT and will install and follow up if there are any issues - I don't foresee it though.
