Good interpretation. They do pull hard and just keep pulling. Great engines for heavy boats so far.

Yep and you better have your transom braced, so it don't twist the hull.

The third cam will be installed sometime after lunch. Well see if this one is the ticket. Will eventually need the better springs but at least I should see some improvement.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Ok ladies and gentleman. Finally got a chance to run the third cam with all the other shit going on. First off, the stock cam pull great from a dead stop to about 4200, then fell off but would carry a load. Cam #2 tried to move the power further out, which it did, but it loss a little low end, but now would spin up till the valves floated at 4760. Remember that even loosing some low end grunt, I was still able to make those 2 runs with the 500' of Lillie boom and the 18 sheets of 1/2" plywood at 29 and 28 respectively. So it brings us to Cam #3. Initially I noticed a difference from a dead stop. It feels similar to the stock cam off the line, which I liked immediately. I wanted that back. played around a little and then dropped the hammer. It pulled really hard till 4670 then petered off at 4760 again, valve float. I was cruising at 32.7 most of the time. I was playing with the trim trying to get it right and it felt like I had a sweet spot, when I looked at my GPS, it was 33.6. I immediately looked back at the rpms, it was 4880, then started to fall back of quick to 4760. Right there is when I cut it back down to about 4500. I knew right then that this cam, given some better springs, would pull pass 4760. Now cam #2 probably will pull pass 4760 also, its just this one did it a little quicker. All of this was done with a brand new PD stock prop. No pitch, no cup, right out the box. With some better springs, and a little prop work, this could easily be a 35-36+ mph PD. We have been in contact with several engine and performance shops and found the springs and they are ordered. When they come in, then I'll be able to get an Idea of the full potential of this engine/cam combo. So as of now, I'm very pleased at how its coming along, this thing will soon be a 35+ mph rig WITH NO F'n CASE LEAKS

Holy crap Great work guys, really impressive work. As far as longevity you'll never know until you try. When someone comes up with a rock solid replacement for the BS it will be a wonderful MM world!

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
And you can replace the crankcase for $100 less than the Briggs guys are paying for a muffler from most aftermarket's. Part# 49120-7126 scrubbercity.com . makes you wonder how far it can be bored out.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
I'm just saying. Those speeds are really impressive especially with all that plywood n stuff. I mean if my boat was hauling a load like that going 29 mph I think I would've videoed it or something. Or at least the runs from all the different cams. I'm not calling anyone a liar is just like to see these numbers actually happen.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Granted the speeds banded is posting is with his phone, dont get all caught up in that, his boat is pretty quick anyway. He's keeping that phone gps as a constant to compare different changes.
As far as cams go, there are two good ones (3 if you count stock) but the limiting factor at the moment is valve float. Once that's taken care of, back on the cam game again. No matter what cam you put in it right now, it's not going to pull over around 4700.
However, Bugs barge is doing awesome, he's seeing the same speeds he saw with the stage two time bomb and much better hole shot performance.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
For an 18/60 hull that's damn good. I know someone with a .100g 18/60 xpress with an f70 yamaha that only gets 35ish.
