Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
No need to lap them. Just run it, they should seat fine. Banded did just because he saw a line but chances are after the valve shut a couple of times it closed. After it goes through some heat cycles, if needs then yes.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
I did the water air trick first. I didnt have any water or air leakage. Then I did the flashlight test. I have a 400 lumen LED that barely covers the exhaust port. One of the exhaust valves has about 2mm of hairline light showing. Since its brand new, I am going to take a chance on that one seating itself. I got the port and polishing that I was doing finished today. It's a bitch. Don't know if I would do it again instead of sending them off. I decided not to cut the guides down. I want to see if I get enough performance (for me) before doing that. When I take the motor down next, if yall haven't seen an issue, I may go ahead a whack them... Isky should receive my cam tomorrow and hopefully can turn it around pretty quick. I should be able to pull the briggs Monday or Tuesday. Decided that I would set it aside for the time being. If everything goes well after 30 hrs or so, then I'll post it for sale. I will go ahead and mock up the kawi and get the holes drilled. Once I get the cam back, I should be able to get it together in short order. I have the stainless together to build the muuffler, just waiting to have the Kawi mounted to be able to check clearances on the frame and such. With any luck, I will have her ready for a test run in around 2 weeks. Then I can get one of those badass avatars!

Good deal man! I wouldn't worry too much about the valve give it time to seat. Mine were nearly perfect after some good run time. Definitely a good idea to fab the muff later

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Well with 14 gallons of gas, the Kawi finally struggled with the 16 pitch prop. Still got to 32 with a boat load of fuel, but only about 4600 rpm's. First time she squatted on me. So I'm sending prop back to baggy and dial it back a tad. The same prop with a lite boat and hardly any fuel was 34.5. That extra weight squatted this bitch quick. I'd rather keep my 34 with a stock prop then worry about the speed. So I'm gonna try a little less.

Yours a built in tank up front, right? Either way it's sounds like too much until we can fiddle with rods and pistons but we're holding out for that

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
It was also a couple things I did. I notched my transom down from 19.25" to 18" and added the extra weight. Motor is sitting lower, I can definately tell when it bites now, just loading it up too much. 16p is a big f'n prop.

What are you guys doing for a rev limiter?
Did anyone figure out one that works?
Or you just running without?

Thanks.
Is anyone working on getting one? Have any thoughts or other options?
Or is everyone comfortable running without?

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Lee was, but none are spinning up what mine is. It won't spin 5400 rpms. The design isn't going to allow that we believe. So you can't compare anything on the briggs to this. I've spun mine at 4960 but will hold 4800 all day. Now I have hit a sandbar and that tach said 5480, but it was a blip.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
ok thanks man.
Yeah, not worried about "normal" running...
I have a 5100 limiter on my briggs, and have hit it a number of times when hitting objects in water, motor coming up out of water, and slipping in mud/grass, etc...
If anyone comes up with anything, please post it up.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
I want to say lee did that for a while. Just took off the bigass air filter and put on some kind of K&N style filter. The filter adapter on the back of the carb is like the old Donaldson adapter on the 32.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Bryce, there's still one runnin' that's yet to do anything other than a carb to his on a 17/54 and he's all over 30 mph! I did run it bone stock with the K&N for a little while and it did great, (on a BAB) better than stock B&S. All along I've wanted a runnin record of the progress and a comparison . You'll absolutely love the stock governor, there's no comparison to how great it works to the B&S coil limiter system. Very shortly I believe we'll have three different cam selections figured out that should pretty much cover any application. It'll be a beast on that boat of urs no doubt.

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
Bryce, FYI...
When you order you can save by going with the FX920 over the FX1000...
Same engine minus carb...only diff between te two and the 920 is about 200 cheaper. Now, the only thing I seen diff on the carbs is there is a throttle stop that only allows it to go about 3/4 on the 920.

Throttle is easy to adjust. You just set the upper limit screw all the way out and roll out

Re: Kawi FXT00V "Let the good times roll"
These pics show factory setting and what we need to use it. Look at the two horizontal screws in the top left corner where the linkage hooks up. Top on is high side stop and bottom for idle rpm. This doesn't affect the governor system in any way but it'll need to be adjusted also.
