To bleed the lifters you apply pressure to the plunger of the lifter until the reservoir is empty. Or better yet just buy new lifters. When I did my heads I had 2 lifters stuck and that was at 47 hours. The kohler manual says you don't have to prime the lifters before install, but be prepared for some crazy tapping for first few minutes after rebuild.

Also, I only shaved my heads down .020, added ss valves, ported, polished, and shimmed valves up .060. Now my compression is 184/185. That is as high as I want to go, cause I want this thing to last.

The stock 30 heads took my motor to 185 comp. Was at 150 before.

Yea I would of went that route, but I only paid $160 for all the headwork.

Yeah, thats a good deal. You can find the 30 heads on ebay with new valves and springs for about 180. They are a lil over 200 just for the heads if you go through a kohler dealer.
