So, I am going through and replacing some of the most rusted and corroded parts on a 2008 27 hp kohler on a mud buddy longtail. This thing is wired so simply anyone should be able to work on it. After replacing the starter, key ignition unit, the fuse holder on the red and yellow wire going to the starter (30amp). battery cables and the kill switch that had exposed inner wires. I thought I put it all back but now it won't start. The starter clicks a few times and never engages the motor and now it does nothing when the key is turned. The battery is fully charged and all new connections appear sound Now I realize that any one of the things I changed may affect starting but before I go back and start tearing everything down and starting over again, I just wanted to make sure I hooked up the starter right. The prior starter solenoid was so corroded the copper bolts broke right off on removal and I did a bone head move and tossed them out so I do not have them to reference. I thought the blue wire and the red/yellow wire with the fuse on it went with the hot/power battery cable and all connected directly to the largest copper stud on the starter solenoid. The grey wire with the female connector connected to the separate tab on the starter solenoid. If any out there could confirm this wiring that would really be a big help. Thanks |

Just in case anyone else is in this situation- make sure you mount the mercury switch in the correct position. |
