Ran boat with new mods today: 27mph @ 2500 rpms. Before mods it ran 25 max one time with the wind and current at 3500 rpms. I did not want to go above 2500 rpms for two reasons: engine needs break in time and this SOB WILL BE SCAREY FAST AT 3500 rpms with optimum trim. I didn't want to play too much with prop depth for optimum performance because no rev limiter. At 27mph there was no rooster tail which should tell you experience mudmotor enthusiast that there's a lot more speed to come. All this with stock cab and lawnmower muffler. No leaks. Throttle a bit too sensitive so will have to adjust.

Gets on step immediately.

Load: me 250, tool box :30lbs, 5 gal gas, battery

Lol I think you speed had more to do with wind and current than mods. You boat ain't gonna be any faster at 2700 rpm than it was before!! Your speed comes with the added rpm range you get with the mods !! My stage 3 ran the same speed light at 3800 rpm than the stock motor!! Hate to bust your bubble but that what you get when you talk about experienced mm people lol

dguidry, like ddm said, a prop turnin 2700 rpms is the same no matter what. even if you had a 1000 hp engine, at 2700 rpm, speed will be the same. for instance, technically, a 12" pitch prop @4000 rpm would theoretically go 45.45 mph. well obviously none of us see that speed because whats called 'coefficient of slip'. all boats have this and its measured in percentages. so unless youre running a bigger prop, or somehow lower the 'slip factor' of your hull, 2700 rpm will amount to the same speed.

Wrong my dad and I both have gtr I have a stage 1 he's stock I turn 3300 on the side of him while he's turning 3800 because I can turn my prop better at a lower level in the water due to my mods

gp, you sayin wrong to me or dguidry? i was talkin strictly bout rpm and mph. if the rpm is the same, so is the mph.

ok , i get what hes sayin now. his rpms might have been the same, but he was trimmed down farther and still got the same rpm.

Every boat especially custom built boats will run different and respond to mods differently. And hes with a modded motor you will have more torque. So you can run the same rps with more speed as long as you have more prop in the water.

yes guidry, coefficient of slip is a factor in every boat, and changes with every pound of weight that is in the boat taken in or out. ask ANY prop guy.

If you go down the river and run 27 at 2700 rpm then go back up the river at 2700 rpm and only run 20 what made the difference o might I ad their was a 5 mph current

Ok, I'll make all of you happy and tell you that I did those speeds with about 3 gallons of water sloshing about in my boat from a leak in the wooden bottom. The small dormant cracks that were there all winter long dried up and the wood shrank causing a leak. I'll have to seal with epoxy or they will seal themselves once the wood is wet again and expands. Just sayin... :D

Ok so what your saying is you gained 7 mph at only 2700 rpm !!! Y'all can post all the bs you want and y'all can all be forken FE's but at best on top end a boat will get 4-5 so if he's is right I'm getting rid of my motor and getting a nodded. 23 from Guidry same everything at 2700 rpm speed ain't gonna change dumb forks he's saying he gained 7 mph at only 2700 this place has become a forked joke

Post subject:  Re: Test run results dguidry mods!!!

I agree his speeds seem exagerated. But I was just sayin the mods he has will give more torque allowing him to trim down farther at the same rpm's resulting in more speed at said rpm's.

Tach working fine. I momentarily hit 4490 on tach on trailer. Afraid to peg throttle without rev limiter. Stock with governor was 4010 max constant. What do you think engine would have run stock without governor?

I can't imagine what a performance carb might produce in addition to these mods. Next install is high flow exhaust.

im just saying that with my stock motor i would turn 3400 with 5 people and say 25 mph now modded i can trim the motor lower and turn 3400 but run 30 mph. does anyone understand what im saying

Post subject:  Re: Test run results dguidry mods!!!

It make sense to a point with the prop submerged it is getting a bigger/better bite due to both flukes biting resulting in less prop slip, But those are some really high gains. Just sayin.

So, if you have the exact same boat, trim setting, and conditions then swap a 23 and 35 block out they will both have the same speed till the 35 exceeds the 23's rpm range?

different prop

Post subject:  Re: Test run results dguidry mods!!!

Same conditions, I know it comes with different prop and ratio...

But if the 23 could get wound up and spin a 12" prop would they do the same?

Two people 400lbs gas ice chest, 2 batteries: 21.8 at 3100 , optimum trim and throttle pegged.. Pre mods 17. This is perfect.
