Why would a bolt have a number 8 on it's haid and a metric number 10 is what fits it ??

It means its a grade 8 bolt...has nothing to do with size |

I kind of sort of thunk that ..... put thay used to put markin's ... slashes ... on 'em to grade 'em. I wurshed that was the metric size tho .... make it alot easier on mines dumb non-mechanic butt !!

How does one know if a bolt is metric or not by just looking at it? |

Well be dawg .... thats cool to know !! Here's nuther querston ~ Like on the Briggs plate thats connected to the carb that holds the air-clearner on ..... reckon why thay chose a grade 8 metric ?? |

sometimes the bolt/screw manufacture puts a head marking on there product. since most of the stuff comes from china there are many cases where it is a B but it looks like a 8. They also put markings to make it look like a higher grade but it is only the manufacture markings. |
