Have any of yall tryed to tig weld cracks on a muffler?

My EVT is cracking at the bottom where it is clamped into the brace. Wondering if it would be worth it to try to drill each end of the crack and weld it up.

Tig it with 316 stainless rods. Drill the holes and take your time with the heat input. Will last longer than the original!

U got little spider cracks all over the bottom right? If so, try to find a piece of thin stainless that u can wrap all the way around it and weld on the edges where the original crimp/weld is. We did this to a buddy of mine after trying to weld all the cracks. The muffler has been heated cooled so much that it is brittle now. The piece we used was .080" or so and has worked out perfect. If u try to Tig it wif 3/32", u gonna blow big holes. We used stainless tie wire with 3/32" tungsten and it was still almost too hot.

if you can get it clean enough and control the heat so you dont burn the stainless you should be fine, permanent fix would be to plate the bottom of the muffler with stainless and weld the mount back to the plate.
