That engine is going to be a game changer but if it's anything like an outboard lower unit, a lot of special tooling is going to be required to put them back together properly.

What advantages does the H model have over the V or visa versa? Why would someone choose one over the other? Performance? Durability? Weight?

Frame weighting is different between the two, V is weighted farther back like an outboard.

That is still not a finished product. Apparently they did away with the high/low gear (you can see the linkage for that gear on the side), and adjusted the drive angle. Im tired of seeing prototype versions. I want to see what all these people that are actually ordering are actually going to get.

Coe.... Outboard LU's sit under the boat so therefore thats why they go Bye bye more often then surface drives. SD's have only part of the shaft in the water while on plane. Most outboards i seen have a Tlit feature.

I am planning on getting a rig this year. Never owned a mud boat/motor. I had settled on a GTR35 since I want instant reverse. Really, I just want something that I can control like my outboard but that can get back into the slop. Now this new Mud Buddy is thrown into the mix. It looks like the controls are MUCH more similar to an outboard (almost identical to a Yamaha with the shifter mounted on the tiller). The controls seem much simpler and intuitive than the GT.

So now I'm not sure. On the downside, the Sport H and V's have no history and they won't be available till August (and who know how set that timeline is)...

as for the loss of power, ide think those of you that have time with a pd vs a gt or mb or gd would get some idea of the difference between gears and a belt. ide say an additional 90 degree box would make a difference though.

I ain't too concerned wit da gear issue. As stated da difference between da belt and da gears ain't hardly nothin. It's da clutches and da resistance of em dat'l cause me ta start thinkin. Da sole reason of a clutch if ya think bout it is ta create friction which in turn creates resistance. How easy is it gonna be ta turn dat whole assembly when it's submerged in da lower unit fluid?
