Hey guys I just bought a mb 35 hd sport and was told it was an 08. It didn't have a title with it and, well it isn't an 08 I don't think. It fires right up and sounds great and runs perfect but the trim doesn't work and it has the bear trim. Im pretty sure the Thompson trim was put on them in 08, right? What years did they use the bear?

07's have the bear trim I owned one that was an 07 and had it. U from around Galveston area. Sounds like someone I know.

08 had Thompson unit. Does the skeg have large holes in it or is it mainly solid? Does the cage on the front of the fan have sharp corner or is it more cone shaped? Another way to find out the year is by the MB ID tag that should be on the fan shroud. If it's missing, go to the engine tag. The code will tell you everything about the block anyhow.

It has 3 holes about 1"-1 1/2" big on the bottom skeg. Not sure about the front motor cage but it doesn't have the mb tag on it anymore. And no I'm not from the galvaston area. I actually got the motor from a guy in little rock ar.

06 model, fairly certain it is, anyhow.

Ok that works. It was a good deal. What rpm should my motor be idling at?

Same as others, ~1200 in neutral, ~900 in gear

Hey thanks a lot camo. It's idling about 1450 1500 and about 1250 in gear but I didn't have a long time to mess with it.

What year did they start putting id tags on the cowling?

I know my 07 had one

Gotcha, I was just curious, because my '06 didn't, & my buddy's '05 doesn't either.

Oh well I have no idea what year it is.. I just know I need a new trim. Is it worth it to shell out the grand for the merc trim or just buy the Thompson?
