Post '08 PD choke cable melted
changed the clutch on my motor. pulled it to the landing. rode for a while. parked boat. rode some more. loaded boat back on trailer. got back to the house and saw smoke coming from motor. choke cable was smoking. unhooked from battery. double checked all connections. hooked connections back up to battery and choke cable didnt heat up anymore. Didnt see any wires touching choke cable. anyone have this happen before?

Why would your choke cable be heating up? Its not electric or connected to the battery. Only way it could be melted is if it was done by the exhaust.

Ok here's a thought- the tiller is isolated through the rubber bushings, there could have been a short in the control box and the choke cable was only thing connecting tiller to ground??
