Exhaust?? **Update BPS & Mikuni added**
23hp w/ cam and mikuni. Weighing my options on exhaust between the BPS ($400+) or gut the stock exhaust. I do not want anything really loud, don't mind some rumble but I would defiantly keep the silencer in the BPS if I go that. Do you think its work gutting the stock exhaust before dropping 400+ on the BPS or does the gutted exhaust sound like crap? Would like it not to backfire when letting off the throttle if that possible.

 Re: Exhaust??
I've heard a gutted exhaust and it sounded good, I got the marsh mellow with no baffles and it sounds great, the one with baffles sounds good also

 Re: Exhaust??
Only thing i can tell you about gutting the stock exhaust is read some of the threads on here about gutting stock exhaust and making the pipes long enough to go into the barrel and not just weld them to the outside of the barrel. If its done wrong it can run like crap. the upside of spending 400 is you just bolt it on and go. The marshmellow i don't think has came out with a 23hp exhaust just yet that you can receive and just bolt up but i could be mistaken.

 Re: Exhaust??
Thanks for the reply guys..
Take'em - MM does not offer one for the 23 and I called them to see if they would build me one and they said they don't have any interest in it. Oh well.
I really wish someone other than BPS would start building them for the 23. Its hard for me to see spending $400+ on an muffler for a 23hp engine when mufflers for my truck don't cost that much. Hell, I can get a cat back for not too much more than that.
If I had a tig welder, to weld the ss, I would just build one myself.

 Re: Exhaust??
BPS is loud as hell, and i have had mine on now for about 20 hours and it cracked so i'm having to get it repaired. i had the only experimental MarshMellow for a 23 and it cracked 3 different times leaving me stranded twice one of the times it caused me to burn up my rev limited also. my stock i thought about gutting and doing the same and i looked at it and its cracked too. WTF do we need to make these out of thicker wall stuff so it dont crack? its cracking right next to the weld were it gets hot when welding i'm guessing.

 Re: Exhaust??
Got the BPS crossover and my 34mm mikuni installed and it sounds awesome. Below is a short video but it doesn't do it justice.....sounds just like a Harley. I left the silencer in.
I also replaced my belt housing with a wider one, so I could actually change the belt on the water if needed.I still need to build a clutch cover.

Take the silencer out and you will turn heads.

I saw this motor in person. Great job on the build. Your going to love the performance of that motor. I'm in the deer stand now, but can't wait to watch the video.

Re: Exhaust?? **Update BPS & Mikuni added**
i would think that a exhaust system that required a spreading of the head pipes would soon fail. also would scare me when u had to remove exhaust. pulling of the threads in the head.
