Few years back I had my 36 Vanguard (non CDI motor) upgraded to Stage 2 by EVT which
Included more head work than on stage 1 with new roller rockers, stainless valves, new cam and some other stuff.

Cam shaft sheared or a bolt broke and one the connecting rods broke in the same instance causing the failure.

I still to this day haven't taken everything apart on the busted motor but the top end SHOULD be fine.

I now have a 35 GTR and just got a used PD36 and both are not CDI motors.

Questions:

Are the parts exchangable among the 2 even though one is vertical shaft and other is horizontal?

What parts can I use and will help get better performance out of the motor without going into the bottom end again?

The PD36 does have a small case gasket leak and am going to have break into it at some point, IF i was to do more to the bottom end what is the best cam and other parts to go with now days?
