I have a 27 kohler GDSD that has about 75 hours on it. Never had any problems with it and it has recently started making a knocking sound at low RPM. At idle it knocks about every second and I can hear it speed up with the engine up to about 2700 rpm and then I can't hear it anymore. Is this something to worry about or not? I am not very good with small engines so it the answer is pulling heads, valves, lash, etc., just tell me to take it to a mechanic. Thanks. |

Oh, and I started using mid-grade fuel within the past few months. |

It is more of a knock and it seems like it started when I started using premium fuel. |

could be getting preignition with the premium fuel. try lower octane to see if it goes away |
