| Post subject: | Decked heads- Questions |
I had my 35 gtr modded over a year ago. they worked the heads, rejetted the carb, installed a cam, and advanced the timing. For some reason it had vibration issues, backed some bolts out and cracked the block. I bought a long block and kept it stock and have been running it for awhile. I've been kicking around the idea of istalling the heads, carb, and exhaust on the engine. My Question is, can i just use the heads, exhaust, and rejetted carb or will it flood the engine? I dont know what size jet is in the carb. Or should i just do exhaust and heads? Or keep it stock till i can install everything? |

You can install the heads and carb and go with a cam later. I personally wouldn't use the cam in the old motor if it had internal issues, a small knick could cause problems on your new motor, but thats just my opinion. You will want to get a high flow exhaust with the heads. Did you ever find the source of the vibration? |

Never figured out the vibration. I fought the bolts backing out for about 3 months, ended up with studs and loctite. Finally had the bolts back out and blew the gasket. Went to replace gasket and saw the cracked blocked. |

Vibration usually comes from the lower unit - bent shaft, unbalanced prop.... If it doesn't happen with the new engine then something else was wrong with the motor itself. |
