I have a 36hp prodrive on a 18x54 prodrive boat. I've got the heads done the other day and have a marshMellow exhaust. Also have high rev limiter and run 93 octane. I'm only running at 27 mph and was wondering if that was normal. Also I run my motor around 4200 to 4300 rpm's. just thought I should be getting a little more speed out of it! |

What does your prop measure? What speeds were you running before? |

You should be at bout 29 empty.....I have the 17x54 and run 30 light at 4300rpm! Jeremiahw on here got the 18x54 cc and runs 29 empty. That's both deep water speeds! Same mods...sounds like your getting the rpm just not speed! So that tells me ur prop may be worn??? |

Run w/ the wind and current then check ur GPS when u get into the strongest gust against ur back in 18" of clean water. Post the BS as average deep water speeds so sum poor soul will spend his money on "one o' them bad ass mudmotors" then go to one of the local mud boat races (rides) where everyone's GPS is broke or dead and have a GRAND 'OL TIME! Dude ur right on the money. |

Dont beleive the bullshit on this post,,,you are not right on the money!! Specialy for the RPM's you posted.. I will get jeremiahw to post his speeds,,,he got the same rig, same mods! What you posted were normal for stock speeds! I know for sure, my heads and exhaust didnt give me much empty in deepwater, but it did give me a solid 1mph over stock! Loaded even better! like i said,,i run 27 with 3 peeps and hunting gear! What gets me, is your Rpm's are good...thats about what i turn.... check it out, you may just have a lot of shit on ya boat and dont realize it! |

I'm not gonna call him out for doing something wrong because I don't think that's the case. He has his own business and does this on a daily basis. So I'm not going to down him for something I'm not sure of. Just was asking if I'm at normal speed or at least close. Because before I done head work I was topped out at 25mph. So I did gain 2 mph |

Man we went trough this this pass weekend with Gtr owner. Their will be places you gps better than others. These surface drives react different to wind , current and just about anything than a outboard. You may run down a bayou that is fast take a turn and loose 2 mph. Learn how to drive it and don't worry about 1 mph. My dual with the weight it is will drive you crazy with speeds but that just the nature of it. The speed thing on a surface drive is about as fucked up as the mpg thing is on a diesel truck. |

Have you messed with the trim tab on the back of ur boat? that can slow u down a lot if it's bent to much. |

And I though you wanted your weight evenly distributed. To much weight in bag would make it drag right? |

Gator Trax boats like the weight In the back of the boat. I am not sure why, but I had a 1750 as my last hull, and I picked up 1.5mph by moving the batteries to the rear from the bow. I would play around with your weight distribution, because everything else sounds about right. |

Just want to say thanks to everyone for their comments. I moved shit around and bent trim tabs up a hair and now going 29.5 to 30.3. Very much appreciated! |
