So I will be getting a rig here shortly, but it is concerning seeing all the talk about working on them. Are the motors all failing and your having to fix them that much or are you guys tinkering with them for whatever reason? I can turn a wrench (somewhat), but I want a boat that is not going to leave me stranded during duck season or when I am out fishing.

We all have a certain degree of Stockholm Syndrome with our preferred brand of MMs. But, if maintained and cared for they will last you a long time and be very reliable.

Leave it stock, that way you'll have a warranty and wonlt have a problem, I've got friends with stock 35 vanguards on longtails, mud buddy's, and gator tails that have over a thousand hours on them and have only had few minor problems, that are cheap and easy fixes.

What specifically are you thinking about? Heads? Exhaust? What? Also, where are you located?

My suggestion would be to get Hoyt to do a Stage 1 on it when you order it. That would take care of the valve issues, exhaust issues, & give you more power.

thanks. Im running a homemade exhuast right now. was a quick build just till i could figure out what us causing the vibrating. As much as i like my 2 blade wheel thinking about installing a 3 blade, it may help. i really think that is where the vibrarion is comming from as it does not vibrate out of the water. guess it may have to do with just the way my hull is made or my setup dont know, but changed prop, shaft, and belt just to do it and did not do it.

I see in your signature you run a Hopkins prop why not take that crap off and try a stock wheel

How much more do you think we are looking at with a stage 1 kit if I have it done when I order the boat? I find myself wanting more stuff but crap is getting expensive. This might be worse than duck hunting.....well duck hunting is the cause of this! Damn my friends that got me involved with the thrill of shooting birds.

A stage 1 from Hoyt (heads, cam exhaust, coils) will run you around $2000.00-$2300.00 installed.
