I think it’s crazy that you have to pay extra for a sand /rock guard on a mud motor. Why not just make it standard issue. GT want’s an extra $ 100 for that option. GT can easily incorporate it in the original unit during construction. That cost is negligible. What’s the purpose of the reverse plate. I run in grass. Do I need a reverse plate ? Thank you. |

Yes u need a reverse plate. Your motor will reverse alot harder with one. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk 2 |

You don't "need" it, but if you don't get it, & then try it later, you'll definitely want it. |

Reverse plates are not needed for reverse. They do keep you cleaner....sand rock guard is not needed at all. sent by carrier pigeon...don't shoot it!!!! |

It was a legit question. I was contemplating adding it because I run rocky rivers sometimes. Glad ya got some enjoyment out of it |

Reverse plate is real nice as a shield for mud and water. Never ran a gtr without one but from what I hear, I would be disappointed if I did lol! |

I imagine if you run rocks in anything with a prop, ain't much gonna help protect it. |

In the glades I hit limerock every time. My current mm skeg protects the prop. pops up and over. No damage to the prop. |

Rock guards really hinder your performance over a hard bottom too. |

i had mine on while running the river hit a rock and pretty much ripped it off, no not really a rock gaurd but it will help if you run hard bottom to save your skeg. |
