hey fellas. though ive browsed this site a few times ive never gotten around to joining up and asking a few noob questions. take it easy on me if they have been worn out time after time. i came across a great deal a few months ago on a 1648 crestliner that i couldnt pass (the money was there and the price was a steal so i pick it up). now the time is coming up to where im going to be looking for a motor it. ill give you a few of the details that i feel might be pertinent to the situtation.

2 mens most of the time. but decoys and other crap duck hunting
-florida lakes and coastal (gulf and intercoastal on the atlantic)
-Alot of limestone and rock bottom in the gulf with the common rouge oyster bed or the occastion stray oyster ridden rock.
-rivers with some shallower spots with limerock.

$4000 +/- in fundage

what would be the best for this size boat (16x48), and the terrain in which ill be hunting and running? a long tail or a short tail?

thanks in advance fellas.

-Adam

there are little tidal creeks i can launch at it the tides are rights but no more than 4 or 5 miles. but it would be nice to have the option to go further without dragging ass or gettign beat to hell.

Most Crestliners are .080 gauge boats. Do you know if the boat is .080 or .100 gauge?
