checking valve lash on the motor, I just got 10 hours on it and the lashing are .009 bout to set them now to .005(stock motor btw). Just letting the people that just got a new gator tails know, check your lashing at 10 hrs, or if you are having hard starting probs check it then.

How exactly is the RIGHT way to do this? I've never done it on any motor I've owned and know a lot of people who haven't.

I need to know for when we have to do service on motors.

Going to try to service mine tomorrow and need to check mine too. Isnt the motor supposed to be cold too or is that something else?

yes, cold and when you get to the ign. box side when you are taking everything off, take off the ground on the batt. Ask me how I know, but will have to put it back on to engage the clutch once you get everything out the way. One side was off by .004 and the other side didn't have to adjust sh*t. When you remove the valve covers go easy when trying to remove the gaskets, if you don't have new ones on hand.

BTW, tackle this at your own will. If you don't think you can do it, don't. Take it to a trained service tech.
