Post subject:  What kind of mud motor?!?

Okay, I have posted on here before about putting a 18hp copperhead on my 15ft modified v Xpress boat but everybody told me to go bigger so I am wanting some advice on what kind and what size motor to put on my rig so I can get decent speeds..I know this is not the rite setup for a surface drive and prolly will get bashed for it. But I'm not using the rig for mud I will be running through stumpy waters beaver dams and vegetation. O

Take a look at the GTR25. Somebody on here mentioned Copperhead is making a 23 or 25hp now, just not on their site yet.

seriously?????? You asked about a Copperhead (decent lil motor), & everyone said 25 GTR instead, so now you wanna know about a Dixie? Even a guy with the name Copperhead as his screen name said 25 GTR, think about that for a second.

As the small blocks go, I wouldn't have anything but the GTR! They are some little mules.

The dixie is nice for the money. Im still getting everything dialed in but it seems it will hold up. If you have the money go with GTR,pro drive. etc. Mike was an extremely nice guy to deal with though.

I have owned copperheads, a mud buddy, a go devil. A copperhead is the best small motor money can buy. But if your gonna bite the bullet and want to actually go fast. Get a damn GTR. Dixie is a new company that is in the process of being cleaned up by its new owner, with a product that is being cleaned up as well. I have learned the hard way. Save those pennies and dont make an impulse purchase on something you know hasnt proved itself to be the best when it comes to quality and performance. Just my 2 cents. Like i said, save yourself from having to sell whatever you buy and try to move up the ladder. Go GTR and be done with it.

I only got to run it for an hour or so when I got home. I took it straight to the lake. None of the throttle cable, idle, or governor was really adjusted so all I could do was tighten the cable by the throttle before I could get the slack out of it today at home. I ran 25mph but that was probably at 3/4 throttle because I couldent adjust it any tighter on the water. Im picking up a tach tomorrow to set the governor so well see what happens. Considering this was my first mud motor I dont have any experience with other manufactures and only time will tell if the motor holds up. Regardless im more than happy with the rig. If it doesnt im pretty confident that mike will get me taken care of. If you dont have thousands of dollars to throw around I highly suggest giving dixie a shot.
