I have a two week old GD 35 with 50 hours on a 1654 Grizzly. It came with a 3-blade prop that I'd get 31.5 out of by myself, but it sucked in the pads and tussets. So I got a 2-blade prop from my dealer, which measures 12'' from tip to tip. It will eat up the thick chit, but I can't keep the motor in the water when turning running 3/4 open or when I'm already on plane and open it up. I had the same problem with the 3-blade prop too, but not as bad, but close. I can hold the handle up the whole time and keep it in the water, but it'll wear you out after a while and I shouldn't have to do that. I tried bending my trim tabs up little by little to the point where they were almost pointing straight up and still not much difference. I talked to my dealer and he wants to meet up this week to run it his self. Having a person in the front does make a big difference but not much. I had my GF with me last night catching frogs and she weighs about 100 pounds and I was still having trouble keeping the motor down when running wide open. I'm gonna bet that the dealer will suggest that I move gas and battery to the front. The GD dealer suggested that it might need bigger trim tabs welded on. I asked him if he's ever had to do that before and he said no. I have a grizzly hull, which I know isn't a true mud hull, has a slight V, but has anyone ever heard of any problems with these hulls and SD's? And yeah I know, If they can't fix this chit soon, I'm drinking the kool aid. |

Adjust your cavitation plate Bending it up will force the prop down Bending it down will allow the prop to float up Good luck |

If your girlfriend grabs frogs while running wide open....I'd like to invite yall on a frogging trip.lol If I remember correctly, when my prop would wear out...it was harder to hold down. Based on your speeds, it doesn't sound like your prop is worn. On mine....I ran both 3 and 2 blade and preferred the 3blade. My boat was almost always loaded though. A friend of mine runs a mod v hull with a 35gdsd and the 2 blade tiger prop is best on his boat. |

The 2-blade that I have on it is 12" tip to tip. Got it from the dealer. It looks like a GD prop, but I can't find any GD 12" prop online... |

I tried the 2 blade for a week. Big rooster tail. Nice speeds unloaded. Sucked with a load. |

Buddy of mine had a 35 gdsd on a weldbuilt with mod v. Ran fine until we built a boat for him then it wouldn't run trimmed out because it was coming out of the water. He talked to Coco and finally cut his trim tabs off and he welded some more on at more of an angle and fixed it. |

Post up a pic like BBB's ---- notice that his cav plate basically lines up with hull bottom ---- does yours ???? Also post a pic of that new 2 blade so we can see who made it.... Yes others have welded on bigger trim fins and welded them at different angles when transom height was a mismatch to GDSD.... What is your dealer telling you ??? If you ran over 30 mph with the 3 blade you likely just need a minor tweak to get things right.... viewtopic.php?f=2&t=41737&p=523221&hilit=trim#p523221 PM - Whodat88 --- I believe GD welded them on for him for free The Tracker Grizzly has a pretty tall transom made for outboards so rewelding the lower fins is likely the solution - measure your transom then call GD with your GDSD serial number and see what they tell you... |

Don't ever bend the cavitation plate on a surface drive. It should never be in the water when you are running. I'm surprised the dealer sold you a 2-blade. They vibrate too much, which is why it is not offered any more. I guess you helped him get rid of some old stock. Never bend the tabs more than 3/4 inch at the tip. If they are bent up too much there is probably something else wrong and the flow of water to the prop is not clean. I have seen your problem only when the bottom of the boat had a bad hook, when there was excessive transom angle or when the boat had a tunnel. There are probably other reasons but please call Coco. He will work with you to sort it out. Keep us posted on the fix. |

The prop is creating lift. I tried a hopkins style wheel on my 23gdsd a long long time ago and it did the same thing. Was very aggrevating.. Need a prop with some rake in it that will pull down not push up. The 3 blade helped a lot over the 2 blade.... |

Giga, My dealer isn't telling me anything. I talked to him last Monday and told him about how bad the motor is to keep in the water. He said to bring it to him and let him try it. He's an hour and half away so I asked him when we could meet to run it, we agreed on Saturday at 3PM. I texted him at 11:00 to remind him that I'd be there at 3PM, he replied 'just drop it off in front of my shop, I'll probably be asleep. I replied that I didn't want to make two trips there and thought that we were going to meet at the lake. No reply. I asked him when we coul meet at a ramp for him to run it, we then agreed on 5PM today. at 11:30 I texted him to make sure that we were still on. All is good. At 1:30 I get a text saying that something has come up and he may be running late and would be in touch later. I still haven't heard anything. |

Stu, I asked the dealer if he had a two-blade because the three blade that the motor came with was terrible in the lilies and tussets that I usually run. Two-blade does a lot better, but I have to hold it down in the water the whole time, same as 3-blade. I'll post a pic of it tomorrow. Warren's the reason that I bought it. I had a old GD LT before this motor and I still have Coco's cell phone number from him helping me out the night before early teal two years ago on a Friday night. I'll probably call him tomorrow before I do anything drastic. |

Did you put the 50 hours on this motor? If so, has it been doing this all along? It has to be a boat design issue. You might need the back weight of a PD or GT to keep the prop in the water. |

Triple B, yeah I bought it brand new and it's had this problem the entire time. My dealer said that it would perform great on my hull. Giga, Just talked to Coco. He is going to send me bigger trim tabs to be welded at a deeper angle. He let me know that the "dealer" that I bought my motor from 3 weeks ago (a deputy sheriff) has been let go since then as a dealer and the new dealer is 12 miles down the road, but isn't trained yet. The really bad part about it is that this original "dealer" has my brand new 3-blade prop now that he held in return for me testing the two-blade last week and won't return my calls or texts and stood me up yesterday to run the boat. Go-Devil referred me to this POS 3 weeks ago. If I don't hear from him by tomorrow I'm calling Coco again. I Should have known better than to trust the deputy. On top of all that I have to pay to have my tabs cut off and new ones welded. Not too expensive, but something that I shouldn't have to do or pay for. Here's the 12" two blade the dealer loaned me to try: Trim tabs: I moved these tabs an 1/4" at a time and tested every move. And no, that oil leak on the ground is from an outboard, not a sport H... ![]() |

That's cool, not sure if that's a disclaimer or what. Mine has BS'd me from the beginning. Even Coco said to throw the GD 2-blade in the trash that he loaned me for my 3-blade. |
