Post PD CC throttle lever won't stay
Hey, first time poster here. Just bought my first MM boat a couple weeks ago. I'm having an issue with the throttle control on the center console. When you go WOT it will stay for just a second and then walks itself back down. I tried adjusting the tension screw, but after only two rides it's doing the same thing. Not to mention when I tighten it up it's very hard to move the throttle lever.

Not really sure if this is a common problem with the CC model PD's? Any help would be greatly appreciated as having to hold the throttle with one hand and steer with the other gets old real quick.

Is it a new boat? If that's the case, call the manufacturer.

If it's not, you might have to open up the assembly. Look for a part that looks worn, specifically anything that helps create the tension to hold it in position.

when u get it set like u want it, jam a stick between the handle and the console so it can't move.

I have to keep one hand on the throttle all the time. You need to get a suicide knob for your steering wheel. Opens up a whole new gear for you when it comes to steering and throttle control.

I actually sent the boat back into the shop today to have them install hydraulic steering as the cc steering is pretty tough in thick weeds and mud especially driving slow speeds. I actually mentioned this problem to them and they called me back and said that somehow there was some slack in the throttle cable and it got caught and bent when I was turning and that was causing the issue. They installed a new throttle cable but I haven't got to try it out yet. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

You might have to put more pressure on the casing of the morse cable. You are fighting the governor spring.

I never had a problem with the tension screw on mine, I can set it at whatever position and take my hand off and cruise, but I am also running a Mikuni.

Well I took it out this morning. Didn't make a long run because the first place I stopped the sacalait were biting, but no problems whatsoever with the throttle lever. Smoothest it's been since I bought the boat and it stays right where you put it which makes me believe it was probably bent the entire time.

I also learned that hydraulic steering is an essential....wow what a difference.
