Take all that crap off and put on a winch solenoid. You can convert everything for less money than one PD trim switch. |

Here's a solenoid. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004VA ... UTF8&psc=1 And the switch, but there are many options on switches. this one is ready to go and has the spades that fit said solenoid. http://www.amazon.com/ATV-Rocker-Switch ... auto_img_y Run power straight from the battery to the solenoid and you can get the power for the switch off the starter. |

http://www.colehersee.com/home/item/cat/198/24452/ I was told to order this one so I ordered two one for each motor. I am tired of relays popping. |

Also would like to know how many amps the new parker trims draw cause I need to figure out if I can stay with the 12 gauge wire I have or will I need to up it to 10 gauge for a 7-8' run since I am moving the new relays to inside the boat. |

I ran 10awg and my longest wire is only 3', not sure about the new parker trim but I checked mine. For the most part it would be around 65 amps on average but after using it repeatedly and putting a bind on it I saw it jump as high as 144 amps. The solenoid I'm using now will take up to 175 amps for 5 seconds. The trim and reverse works much better, faster and smoother and I've had zero issues with it. The old style switches were a constant PITA and with the heavy resistance when they started acting up would make everything slow. |

Yep, it doesn't happen all of the time but only takes once to fry a relay. ![]() |

Actually I just found a cheaper price on the Trombetta reversing solenoid, looks like they're around $60 each for that brand... http://www.amazon.com/Trombetta-Reversi ... B007W2NBTQ http://www.trombetta.com/cm/pdfs/D03508RevD.pdf |

Didn't I read somewhere (can't find on here) that someone wired this up without any problems on a 3-wire setup. |

Put mine in the transom. Then you can put the wires in the flex conduit or box it in or put caps on the studs... |

Appreciate the photos and ideas on the PD trim switch, and I think will be doing the same re-wire on mine. How do you protect the relay from water once its installed on the transom? Thanks, |

You don't, there sealed. I used dielectric grease on the terminals to protect them, but as far as the internals, your good. |

Finally getting around to this...you mention the switch has power from the starter. Is this the ignition starter to the switch? Thanx |
