Well it's one of 3 things; air, fuel, or fire.

So first touch the exhaust manifold on both sides. The one that doesn't burn you is the side with the problem. Check said cylinder's spark plug to see of you are getting fire. If not start with changing te spark plug . Also check for chaffing for cracks in the boot or chaffing in the wire were it pass under the cowling. This can cause a short before your spark plug. An easy way to test this is if the motor is running touch each heat shield. You will know if it is shorting out.

Next pop your valve cover and insure all push rods are intact and have the correct lash. Turn the key on(do not start), engage the clutch, then turn the prop by hand while watching the valves. If one valve is not moving, once again reassure that the push rod seated on the lifter and the rocker. If not you rolled a love on your cam.

Next clean your carb.

Damn the welds on the cap on the exit tube broke and the cap was making its way out and plugged the outlet? That's crazy! That things welded almost all the way around. I'm surprised that broke.

I have gutted several exhaust and found some that only had spot welds and some that were welded up solid. I just gutted my new gtr exhaust and that sucker was never going to come apart.
