Post Bypassing governor on stock carb on CDI motor.
If cdi engine has limiting rev coil then gonernor system in redundant. Also have Hoyt cam so governor rod and flag have no interaction with cam. I had bypassed my stock carb governor system on my old non cdi GTR 23 when I installed Hoyt's cam on it and ran it like that for a season without rev limiter. I found the throttle response was much better. With my new 35 it makes even more sense to bypass governor spring system.

Anyone running their engines this way?

Haven't install Mikuni yet. Don't want to troubleshoot that right before big trip to Arkansas.

Just my thought but not sure

If you already have a governor block on it then the governor should not have any control over your rpm anyway

Before I installed a carb and gov block I just screwed my gov adjustment screw in until it would hit rev limiter out of water

Theres a different gear with that assembly in the big blocks, separate from the cam, unless it was removed, its still active...

Your GT boat porpoises at 3600 rpm's? How fast is that? That sucks.

I've never ran into an issue with mine porpoising
On my bass boat it would do that if trimmed incorrectly due to the load and speed, I know you have been running a gtr for a long time. Prolly longer than me but it sounds like its trimmed to low or there is too much prop/ motor in water

With the prop surfacing I wouldn't think it would have enough lift to cause it to do that like an outboard will do

I do know that u can adjust the screw on the back of the motor to adjust what rpms the governor affects cause I adjusted mine before I put another carb on it and it would hit the rev limiter out of water just by adjusting the screw inward
When adjusting it it does make your idle creep up so you have to get to the point it does that and then tweak your idle setting
