I have a 35hp MB with the old Bear Trim that just went bad. I hunt a lot in colder temps. Anywhere from zero to 40 degrees. Not to thrilled about spending the $750-800 for the Merc Trim. Anyone on here have the Thompson trim that hunts in the colder temps? Thanks

I had a bear on an '08 that lasted a few years. Switched over to Thompson when it went out and I only got one season out of it . It was still under warranty and I attempted to upgrade and put a credit towards the mercury given it had less than 30 hrs on it but no such luck. MB suggested spraying WD-40 after every run however that is not very helpful this far north. Replaced the with warranted trim, sold the HS and switched venders.

Buddy of mine has 2 yrs on his Thomson trim on an '07 frame. It's starting to act up a bit but he made it through the season however I'd bet it goes out next season the way it's acting. He plans on replacing with a Thompson again given he is getting about 2-3 yrs per trim.
