So is the black death a good motor? Im not looking to go 100 mph. I want something that has a little speed but can carry a load. Compared to a stock 35, whats it looking like?

My usual load was 2 guys, dog, 6 gallons fuel, gear, 8 dozen decoys. Boat had fast grass blind and would average 24-25 mph.

Is it the storage benches that make it tank like?

To the op.

I have owned 45 mag & I was very pleased. Motor was strong. It pushed 3 men & full hunt load 28mph+ in deep water. And this was on a rogue (38" round chine bottom) meaning it drafted a lot. When I test drove, it was consistent 30mph with me, my wife & seller (empty boat).
I was a lucky one as far as stock heads bc after 275+ hrs I only had about 10% leakage.

But if I was in market, I'd look at motor with reverse due to convenience.

There is a pretty good price difference in the two motor also, but 45 mag will pull a heavy load way better, I bought a 50 mag so I could have somebody else do the heads, I'll probably go about it diff with a new motor. Personally I thinkthe bd4500 would do better, if it come with more stock gearing than the way mb gears them, I've changed the fgears in a couple for people and they would pull better rpms and load better. 38-50 or 40-50 seems to work better, but puts them at 4700 rally easy with light load. Just depends on what you want, if you going to haul 4 guys, better go with mag, if 2 maybe 3, bd will be fine. I with my prop chewed up bad right now can still get 4 guys, dog, and 100 dekes up to around 26, was almost 30, but prop is effed up bad. I do like the 50amp charging better tho. Good luck

Why y'all think the Gator Trax is touted as weighing 740 lbs. when the same size Prodrive X Series is spec'd 140 lbs lighter?
