Modding a 45 mag to a 7000, will I need to change gears.
Currently running a 45 mag with a single carb...turns the hammer prop on a 2054 custom with a 3/16 bottom about 4200 rpms with one person or two people. I am going to add a twin carb and gettn Jamie B to do my heads after duck season. Am I gonna have to do some gear changes and what advantage will changing gears give me...I typically only run 41 to 4200 rpms anyway even with my old boat. Boat currently runs 29 to 29 mph with current setup if that makes any difference.

What gears are you running now? Also I would definitely NOT do dual carbs on a heavy boat like that. You will lose bottom end because of lack of accelerator pump. Others will x2 this.

X2 on the single carb. I've got A 52 mag and had it geard at the factory to run a hammer. With my heavy ass boat (3m GT hide) it will turn 4600 - 4700 and she's a runner

It has the factory gears and I forgot to mention it is a 32" out drive...how much bottom end am I gonna lose? I have already bought the carbs...will the head work make up for the dual carbs?

It jumps right on step now...even loaded...we had 5 guys other morning in it...2 over 300, 1 at 250, and two at 170 with waders guns and decoys and it still stepped quickly and ran 19mph...

No the head work won't make up for it. Sell the carbs and stick with the single.
