Just got a new to me fiberglass boat. LOA 15'7" and beam of 3'6", I would guess the weight at about 300-350#. Was homemade and second owner never used it and didn't have any info on the previous owners engine. Don't want to under do it but concerned over the weight for a skinny boat like this and getting something too big. I do plan on some fiberglass work in redoing the transom and other parts before next season. Thanks for the help.

Question: whet the hell is going on with the trim tabs? The linkage between transom and tab looks odd as in bent. Why are they like that?

Again it is new to me and the tabs were not my doing. They do look bent and I was planning removing them and getting everything patched up right before I put her on the water.

If I can up to 25 that would be great, just didn't want to overload it.

X2 on the 25. But don't know much about fiberglass. I would look at the transom and bracing for the transom just on the safe side.

Thanks. When I get back home from work at the end of the month I will find an aluminum fab shop and see about making a bracket to go inside smaller added box and through bolt to the original heavy transom. Will open rear box for installing bracket then glass back over the opening.

Did you build that or is that a local deal? I would love to see the plans for that.

Best I can tell it was built from plans on a 14' flat bottom garvey from Bateau. The 1'6" addition on the stern is not in the plans. The previous owner never used it a guy local to me was the original owner and when I get back home I was going to try and get in touch with him to find out a little more info on the build and builder as well his original power and performance.

Think with the 25 GTR she will scoot along nicely, the 35 would be scary fast if she held together that long.

If you find the builder or a set of plans from the build I would like to see them.

There is the link to the plans. I will probably buy them just to have for reference, when I do I'll let you know. They call for 14' loa and a max beam of 5'2". Mine went a bit longer and down to a 3'6" beam. Once I get her fixed up and powered will see how she runs. I would want more beam on it if I were to build this same style in the future.
