Make sure you tell him exactly what you want him to do to the seats. If you don't all he will do is a lap job.

Make sure the 45 angle on the seat isn't too wide...I had to fix mine after he did them. The 45 needs to be between 1/16" and 3/64".

Cupped, correct me if I'm wrong...but if you just lapp them in, the chances of you having the same issue again shortly down the road are pretty high.

I'm fixing to order one of them, the kit comes with a 31 and 45 deg cutter anyway and I hear that kind of cutter works fine. Just have to get a 60 deg head and you could do a 3 angle job at the house. I used an old Sioux valve grinder with a pilot I niqqer rigged just to get the job done, when I did it hunting season was too close for comfort and I didn't have time to wait on the cutter. So I just trued up the 45 and narrowed it to spec. I wanna order the neway because I have an extra head gasket set laying around and I wanna cut the seat multi angle and maybe try some deshrouding...

If I get it I'll let you know how it works.

Cool. I saw that they have a cutter now that will do a 3 angle job in a single pass too. Reviews on them look pretty good, but I don't know anyone personally who's used them. If you are using new valves, do they need to still be cut? Is there any time when doing a valve job that you would not also need to cut the valve?

I'm interested in getting one of the neway cutters just for jacking around with stuff at the house, but it looked like the machine that cuts the valve is a lot more expensive. If I need to have that too, I'm not sure the juice would be worth the squeeze for me.

I put new valves in mine and I didn't cut them, but like you said it's cuz they were new. If I was doing a freshening job like rod I would probably get the valves resurfaced depending on what they looked like. I know my stock valves liked pretty shitty when I pulled em  . I did hit it with the old lapping stick and some fine compound though to make sure everything was even and true and to check how they were seating. Keep in mind everything I said might be wrong, I just used specs out the shop manual and did what I thought needed to be done

lol no prob. So in yalls opinion what should I tell him I want done? Thats the only one with visible light passing through, but my compression was only 125 on both cylinders. I thought about just leaving it alone because it runs awesome but I cant seem to leave stuff alone. Getting .025 decked off. We got the same done to my buddies MB with the same mods and it runs awesome

Are they IM heads or just stock heads with BPS valves? How big are the chambers?

Naw, I never looked into a valve resurfacing machine but I'm sure there is some kinda cheap setup out there. It's pretty cheap to get done anyway, I guess it's another one of those juice worth the squeeze things. I've seen the machines used before but only ones that didn't look cheap enough to have at home. Lol

This is what that neway comes with CB, a 31 on one side 46 on the other. I think a 60 deg is another 65 bucks or something. Blamo, 3 angle seats at your fingertips.
