I am located in Central Florida and currently run a 27 hp MB LT on my 1448 Tracker Mod V.

The motor is great but we do not have extreme muddy bottoms like out in LA, TX, etc.

There are a few places like the WMA's that are straight muck/slop and outright nasty shit.

With the longtail I run 20 MPH by myself (which is awesome for a LT).

I am just looking for more speed as I usually don't run too much mud.

What surface drive do you all suggest. I'd like to go as big as possible but am concerned about the weight of the 35 surface drives.

Suggestions for a Florida boy?

Obligatory pictures of current rig.

Being that you run just shallow water with little mud and no stumps either gt or pd would be good for you. Both motors do well in this terrain.

Are you going to put the sd on your current boat? If so I would look into gt just for the weight difference.

A 25GTR would be the ticket on that small hull

The 25gtr, in my opinion would be too heavy for that boat.. it would run nose up.....

Perfect. I'll continue to do my research. I was just unsure of how big of a motor I should go with that hull.

The transom is a 16" also. Would I need to have it fabricated at all for a surface drive? (Hopefully not... )

I plan on keeping the hull as well.

What's the weight of the GTR 25 vs that smallest GDSD?? Isn't it 23hp?

I am unsure of any weights. I am looking to at least hit the 25+mph mark...

This dealer is in central FL, and I wouldnt be surprised if he has a motor that he'd be willing to mount on your boat to see how it runs.

Oh and you are 100% correct, in that a 35 is to much weight for the back of that boat.

The 25 GTR is light and runs well. I would suggest a flat bottom boat though

Dude of you're doing 20mph with a LT on that rig - keep it as it is.

Those are great speeds for a 27
