Have a 2012 45 that I am gettn headwork(port and polish, .015 decking) done right now and also adding a dual carb setup. The reason I am asking if I will need to change gears is I also am having to change the crankcase cover so I am gonna have the outdrive off. I am running a 2054 custom with a 32 in outdrive and a hammer prop with a single mikuni carb. Right now I am turning 4400 rpms solo and 4300 loaded down. I am running 38/48 gears. Do u think I will need to change to a 46 gear to keep the rpms down? I dont wanna run it towards the rev limiter all the time. Thanks guys

On that big of a boat I'd stay with those gears.

What factors will be affecting weight? What will be your estimated avg weight?

You will want to keep the rpms up with the dual carb setup to see any benefit. 38/48 1.26-1 ratio is light to me.
