Have a 2012 45 that I am gettn headwork(port and polish, .015 decking) done right now and also adding a dual carb setup. The reason I am asking if I will need to change gears is I also am having to change the crankcase cover so I am gonna have the outdrive off. I am running a 2054 custom with a 32 in outdrive and a hammer prop with a single mikuni carb. Right now I am turning 4400 rpms solo and 4300 loaded down. I am running 38/48 gears. Do u think I will need to change to a 46 gear to keep the rpms down? I dont wanna run it towards the rev limiter all the time. Thanks guys |

On that big of a boat I'd stay with those gears. |

You will want to keep the rpms up with the dual carb setup to see any benefit. 38/48 1.26-1 ratio is light to me. |
