Post removing stock carb for cleaning
Going to remove the stock carb for the first time and clean it ... motor isn't even a year old but it needs it apparently .... I have removed carbs and cleaned them on traditional outboards but not yet on this godevil 35hp sd ... any specific precautions besides not losing any parts during the process that you guys may advise?

if you remove the jets - be sure to note where they go and re-install in the right place. They are diffrent sizes

Unless the motor sat up for a long time and had the fuel crystalize in it or had a bunch of crap get in the bowl from degraded fuel lines, then it really shouldn't need any regular cleaning.

Not worth getting a 'rebuild kit' from Briggs, more cost effective to get one of the take-off new carbs from modded factory motors. BoatDr usually carries them- much less than the cost from Briggs.

If you need the gaskets between carb and intake adapter, I have a pile of leftovers from head gasket kits.

Ok thanks ... don't think I am going to need a rebuild kit since it's been used on a regular basis with fresh fuel and not even a year old motor
