The motor was bogging down under load so i started checking stuff
I have 40% leak down with air comeing out of dipstick tube pulled the
Head and i can move the piston with my finger up down and sidways
You can still see the crosshone on cyl wall and no ring groove
So is it just shot rings

After i seen that started trying to figuer out what happened
I did run an oil filter that wasnt a kolher and i dont think it had the check
Valve in it

kind a sounds like rings or busted piston - I don't think oil filter would cause that

Never ran without cowlings
When i had that oil filter on there the lifters would tap on start up
It hast done that with an kolher filter
Leak down faild on both sides

What viscosity did you run?

10w-30
Same thing i run in every lawnmower fourwheeler or other small motor

Might just run it till it dont go no more and put. A 36 power head

Typically those kohlers are great engines. I had 350ish hours on mine, sunk it twice, and only issue I had was the carb from sitting.

Well i look at it this way i let this boat sit for long period of time betwen
Use and i know suff that just sets without use goes to shit quick

But my kids are old enuff to hunt with me and the wife likes to fish more
Now so a new power head will not set idel long
