Congrats bud! Me personally would run Mobil 1 or amsoil (amsoil being the preference). With your temp swings, you should probably pay attention to the viscosity during summer and winter.

Or just basic afordable Penzoil 10/30 and change it twice as often at about every 50 hours or twice a year with a new oil filter every other time you change oil.... Also get you a tube of GD grease for the lower unit maintenance - one or two pumps every 3rd trip out...

To add to that, the Briggs manual actually states that if I remember correctly.

 Re: Oil for godevil?
On my GD 35 SD (stage one) I use PENZOIL... 10/30 Synthetic...and I recommend that you change it about every 50 -75 hours, or twice a year with a new oil filter time every time you change that oil.
With a GD SD....you will note- it's a mighty solid built engine...you just don't have all that electric issues or hydraulic issues...as some of my buddies experience.
I've have "three GO DEVILS" since 2003...although, my GDSD 35 is not as fast as many other MM's.... it is mighty reliable. I've taken in all over the South Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. These are hard working Mud Motors....but you just got to keep up with your maintenance if you want any MM to last!
Best Regards....JOE GUIDE
