Cant hide money. ![]() ![]() Seriously, I have installed a few of those power steering pumps on triple outboard engine installs, it will make the system feel exactly like your truck. My only gripe is that the pump is kinda loud, but with a mudmotor (or any motor that the exhuast comes out above water line) that will probably drown out the weasing noise that the pump makes. You should be very happy with it. |

So the duals are still hard to turn even with hydro steering? I never drove a dual setup. |

You are taking about the stand alone "power assist" pump correct? Haven't installed one but about to start building a dual rig this week and will be putting one on it. A lot of money but honestly thought about putting one on my single steering rig. For some reason my steering is really tight. |

DDM, how is your steering system set up? With one cylinder and a tie bar to the 2nd motor? or a hydraulic cylinder on each motor? |

Have you tried putting a 2nd cylinder on the other motor? |

Post subject: | Re: Power steering |
Absolutely. By doubling the pushing power (i.e. having 2 pistons/cylinders) it makes the system much easier to steer, and is about 1/3 the cost of adding the power assist motor. However there is a down side to doing it this way, because of having a 2nd cylinder it will require more fluid to move the same amount of travel, so it adds about 1.5 turns from far left to far right (meaning that the steering isnt as responsive). Now I'm not saying that who ever rigged the boat did it wrong, but when I rig a dual mudmotors I use 2 cylinders wether it be MB, GT or PD motors. |

Mine can be a real pain to steer sometimes but even worse when that tie bar comes disconnected while making a turn a WOT |
