Post subject:  Question?

So this weekend I pulled my valve covers off and my carb , to clean and Ajusted my valves. Before I started this and what lead to it was a lot off backfiring and loss of power. I pulled my spark plugs and they both where very lean. After I cleaned my carb and adjusted my valves on sat I took it for a test run, and she ran great, no backfiring at all. Today after I got home work I wanted to pull my plugs again to see if I had the lean problem fixed and what I found was , one side was rich , and one side was lean, so does this sound like a vales problem or mabey I need to ajust my carb some more. This is the first time I have worked on this motor so I,m a rookie at best. Oh its a 35 gdsd. 2006.

That's a tough way to try to read plugs. If you idled around at the ramp aftet your run, you're basically just reading the idle jet today.

Ya im just tryin to work on it myself there no body around me that will work on the dam thing so ive got to learn how to fix it myself, and was just wondering why each side burned different.

If you had a coil intermittently firing it would cause backfiring, also blown exhaust gaskets would cause it too. You read the plugs for the main jet at the base of the insulator after running new plugs at speed and then killing and pulling them (not idling).

Note the main jets in the stock carb are different sizes for the different cylinders, they don't burn the same.

There was no idiling , WOT the whole time for over and hour, bought a brand new stock muffler from godevil , less then a month age , I also have a mukuni 42 mm not a stock carb , and ive replaced my coils before the summer. Im not sure how to read the plugs really this is just something I noticed when I pulled them before I adjusted my valves, and just wanted to see what they looked like after I adjusted my carb, I completely tore the carb down to clean it.
