 fuel question
I have a question about what type of fuel i should run. i know ethanol free gas is what is recommended but, when i can't get any at all or can't get any in higher octane than 87. i know treatment for regular fuel but what brand treatment seems to work best? i would like to run high octane but in a stock 36 will it cause me any problems. like the motor was set to run on 87. i want to get the most i can out of it and while I'm waiting on my unicorn motor I'm trying to get all the knowledge i can.

 Re: fuel question
No point to run high octane if the motor isnt detonating. I have the same problem however, can only run ethanol. I use stabil year round and when the boat sits for a longer period of time I run it out of gas. With basically all the fuels in WI being ethanol blend you would think briggs would make their carbs accept it better.

 Re: fuel question
I've seen 93 recommended many times but be careful when going that route. 93 isn't moving as fast thru the pump as 87 so make sure you buy from a place that moves a lot of gas or it'll be old fuel that's sat in the stations tank for a while

 Re: fuel question
I use Stabil Marine Ethanol treatment in every fill up in all my power equipment (two boats, three lawn mowers, snow-blower, pressure washer, weed whip, chainsaw, etc.) and I've never had a problem with any fuel issues ever. I'm also in Minnesota and equipment sits unused for months at a time. Fires right up every year (I also fog the engines before storage).
Up here in corn country, basically ALL our gas has ethanol.

 Re: fuel question
Yeah you cant find non ethanol without driving 2 hours. GDS there have been several stations in my area that have been busted for putting 87 in 91 and 93 tanks as well.
